SOU・SOUについて

A Kyoto brand that creates Textile designs expressing Japan’s four seasons and atmosphere in a pop style.
With ''Creating a New Japanese Culture'' as its concept, it develops creations that actively use traditional materials and techniques while adding a modern lifestyle touch. It produces and sells a wide range of items, including Tabi Shoes, kimono, Japanese sweets, and furniture. Through collaborations with companies in various fields, it is also expanding the possibilities of Textile design in Japan.
Founded in 2003 by Katsuhito Wakisaka (Textile designer), Kyūshin Tsujimura (architect), and Takeshi Wakabayashi (representative of SOU・SOU).

Creating a New Japanese Culture

When we Japanese think about ourselves and about things, as we speak with others, we believe that by affirming them with “sou, sou,” and also by recognizing the other person’s thoughts with “sou, sou,” we can confirm, discover, and develop one another, and thereby build society. I have heard foreigners say that Japanese conversation uses a lot of the sound “sōsō.” When I think about it, I realize it is a word that people everywhere use every day. Thinking that way, isn’t it fair to say that the one “word” made up of the two words “sou・sou” was a necessary and indispensable term for Japanese people as they lived their lives from long ago? And I think it may be fine to say that it expresses something that feels very Japanese, or even Japan itself. Like the words “sou・sou” that we use unconsciously, I believe it is important for us ourselves, who live almost absentmindedly, to keep finding clues that help us rediscover Japan, and to keep becoming aware of them.
